It’s no secret that the USA has a much better gluten free market than we do. I can spend hours speculating why, but instead, I am going to just do a ‘Show and Tell’ for you here. My parents recently took a trip and came back with this basket of epic goodness. Have I told you that my parents are Rock Stars?!

Here are four of my noted favourites.

1. Tortilla Crumbs by The SoyNut Company.

What I LOVE about these tiny little morsels of greatness, is that they make a great coating for everything. Crunchy coated chicken, crispy casserole topping, binding in a hamburger – it does it all! And it does it well. Yummy yummy.
2. French’s Worcestershire Sauce.

Oh the greatness of ‘woster sauce’ (that’s what we call it because no one can really pronounce it!). We have not been able to find a GF woster sauce in Canada. And after some research, I discovered that the best GF woster sauce is French’s out of the US. First reaction: well isn’t that dandy. Second reaction: How do I get my hands on this.
Mom, to the rescue, she found it. Fiance was close to tears when he saw this little bottle in the basket. Woster really kicks bland food onto another level. Marinades, sauces, BBQ’d anything, just tastes better with woster sauce.
3. Graham Crackers by The Grainless Baker Inc

These are kind of epic. They are moist but crumbly, they are sweet but not sugary, they are just all around great. We’ve used them to make a crumble topping on fruit, I’ve eaten them straight for dessert and I’ve even caught Fiance sneaking one or two when he thinks I’m in the other room! Oh so excellent.
4. Cocoa Pebbles by Post who is actually Kraft.

I first heard about this cereal from The Celiac Husband, he said that it was the best GF cereal. I think he underestimated things, Cocoa Pebbles are the best GF cereal in the whole entire world! My parents brought back two family size boxes for me, and within a week I consumed one in it’s entirety – no sharing of these in this house! If you know anyone going to the US, ask them to bring you a case of these pebbles of greatness.
I love it when people travel and bring me back presents. Who needs a t-shirt when you can have condiments and cereal!

I work in the Natural Value section of a Superstore, and I was actually surprised to find (from one of my GF customers) that the No Name soya sauce is GF. Apparently it tastes better than the Braggs.
Sauce is important!

Absolutely, sauce is important! It’s one thing to be stuck to a diet of chicken and salad and it’s another thing to have to eat it all without sauce!

Love your parents! And send them away often.
Border crossing agents just look at you when you say no alcohol, but 16 boxes of Cereal….

It would kill me more if they took my cereal, then it would if they took my gin!

Hey Caitlin!
I wish I had known you were looking for gf worchestershire…I have 3 bottles just hanging out in my cupboard. If you are in the states, Fruity Pebbles are also gf, as are Corn Pops (who knows why they are not in Canada?). Try the VH sauces for great teriayki, stir fry, and soy sauce. Very cheap, and easy to buy at almost any grocery store in Calgary. Seriously, I have been doing this celiac thing for nearly 10 years, and if you ever need any advice, just let me know, and I can provide. It also helps to have someone who understands to complain to! Also, tell Connor he’s a goof for not asking me before…especially if he was tortured about the “woster” sauce.

I love your blog by the way! I found GF wooster sauce at Blush Market (85 St and 17 Ave SW). Kinda expensive but well worth it!
I agree about the cereal; I miss having an unlimited selection. The cornflakes and crispy rice are getting kind of old.

LOL!! Loved the post – my parents were wintering in California and brought back a bunch of stuff for use including the Cocoa Pebbles and Rice Chex – I only recently heard about the French’s G/F Worchestire Sauce or I would have got them to bring 6 of those suckers too!! I don’t get why companies like Post and General Mills won’t label bilingually so they could sell to the Canadian market – I’m sure they’d do well………….

“It would kill me more if they took my cereal, then it would if they took my gin!”
I’m calling your bluff on that one.

We’ll forgive Connor for his antics – he can eat gluten so he just doesn’t get it!

last time i checked Heinz brand worcestershire sauce (found at safeway) was also GF. and Lea and Perrins in the states is GF – but not in Canada – go figure. Also I hear that corn chex in the states are awesome. Have you seen the new cake mixes, cookie mixes, and brownie mixes that betty crocker has put out in the U.S. that are also GF!! now if they would only cross the border for us….(i hear that they taste pretty much ‘normal’

Hi Christy.
So happy you found the site, I hope it makes life a little easier. How long have you known your one of us?! I damn near cried when I heard about the Betty Crocker GF products. I haven’t had a chance to get my hands on them yet – but as soon as I can I will. I think we should all go in a convoy to the US for GF products – it might make a point!
