I’m leaving Boyfriend for the makers of Sahale Snacks.
Sorry Boyfriend. We really had a great run.
Sahale Snacks are these sumptuous morsels of nuts, fruits, seasonings and a sprinkles of greatness. We found them in Seattle at the Bumbershoot Festival and since then I have been dreaming of running off into the sunset with bags and bags of Sahale Snacks.
My personal favourites are the Valdosta Pecans and the Soledad Almonds. The Valdosta Pecans are an orgasmic blend of pecans, cranberries, black pepper and orange zest. The Soledad Almonds are a mixture of almonds, apple, flax seeds, date, balsamic vinegar and red pepper.
Oh sumptuous morsels.
They have 6 different combinations and the only one that is not gluten free is the Sing Buri Blend – it contains soy sauce. Hey 1 out 6 is not too shabby. And to satisfy the hippie inside you that yearns to get out- the plant is run on 100% wind power. Go Team Earth.
I’ve found them in two places: 1) Community Natural Whole Foods and 2) Costco. And when I say that I found them I actually mean that Boyfriend found them and I am taking credit for it. The selection is limited at best so don’t count on having your favorite falvours available all the time. I’m always on the look out for them and have been known to cut across 3 isles in t-minus 30 seconds just to get the last bag on the shelf. I NEED them that bad! And if all else fails, I am going to write Santa a letter explaining how great I’ve been and tell him that I am willing to give up the pony I know he was getting me this year for a few cases of Sahale Snacks.
Dear Santa GIMMIE SNACKS.

Funny start! Poor guy.
I am glad you saw the ones at Costco. major savings for the Pecans.
At Shoppers you can find the smaller bags of all their products.

Thank you for such a fun post! And thank you for the laugh – I needed it today. We haven’t had such a fun review in ages… I’m so glad you enjoyed the blends. Would you be interested sampling our new product line of Glazed Nuts? And would you mind if I posted your blog on our Facebook page?
Thanks again!!

When I contacted them, they informed me that at least one of their flavors was not gluten free due to cross contamination.

Hi Everyone.
My apologies for the delay in replying to the discussion we have going here. I wanted to go directly to the source for answers and here is what I discussed with the makers of Sahale Snacks:
“While the Soledad, Dauphine, Ksar, Valdosta and Socorro (and now our new glazed nuts) blends do not contain any gluten ingredients, they are produced on equipment that also makes our Sing Buri blend, which does contain gluten from soy sauce. We perform a deep allergen cleanse in-between making the different blends, however, we cannot absolutely guarantee against cross contamination, and therefore we do not list our product as gluten free.”
My understanding is that they do the best job they can to protect their products from cross-contamination and to that I applaud them. As a group there is a certain amount of risk we take with all pre-packaged foods, cross-contamination can and will happen all over the spectrum. I can appreciate the effort and care they take with their products. That being said, it is necessary to acknowledge that the possibility of cross-contamination is present. My goal with this website has been to inform and discuss. And this is why I want to let everyone know what may be a possibility with Sahale Snacks.
Eat responsibly everyone!
