Hi Pam, Willow Park is another great place to find GF beer. When we go down to the south end of the city we try to check it out. Last time I was there they had mentioned the rice beer, maybe I should make another trip there to see if they have it. If they do, you'll have to head down here and we can have a toast to being Celiac and Fabulous! Really, any reason for a toast is a good reason.

I have never heard of New Grist Beer - I wonder how long it will be before it makes it out our way? One thing that impressed me even more about Rousse, is that it makes beer battered onion rings taste a lot more like pubs ones than any other beer we've tried. I heart onion rings!

Living in Ottawa, my only choice for GF beer used to be the regular La Messagère. Like you, I was not a big fan, as my preferences in my pre-celiac days were beers like Guinness, Unibroue and many microbreweries.

When I found out about La Messagère Rousse, I was thrilled, as it doubled my beer options! The beer is easily found in Québec (IGA grocery stores is usually my source).

La Messagère Rousse is now my GF beer of choice. I love the flavour and I'm hoping the LCBO will start carrying it at one point (although they told me they had no plans to do so in an e-mail).

The LCBO did add a second GF beer, New Grist Beer (made from Sorghum and Rice Extract), but I find it too similar to the original La Messagère.
