Yee Haw People.
It’s that time of year again. Time for socially acceptable drinking before noon, itty bitty jean skirts, ill fitted cowboy hats, and horribly decorated store fronts. That’s right kids, it’s Stampede Time.
Clearly, I’m not pro Stampede.
As a child I loved it. Parades, fireworks, mini donuts, the Super Dogs, Stampede breakfasts – a dream! As I grew older, Stampede turned into, extra traffic congestion, expensive food/drinks, and horribly dressed co-workers. It’s worse now. Stampede is now all about food I can’t eat, drinks I can’t drink, and an all around feeling that I’m the one that doesn’t belong.
Today I feel like the tide is changing. There is a light in the Stampede darkness: Calgary Celiac Association Stampede Breakfast.
OH YA! Yee Haw! Gluten Free Stampede Breakfast! A place where it’s normal to be the abnormal. YEE HAW Y’ALL.
When: July 4th, @ 10am
Where: Purified Water Store #315 – 2555 – 32 St. NE
They still need volunteers, so if you are available, please contact them and give a little time to such a great event. Contact information is here.

I’m really looking forward to the breakfast! My first Stampede with celiac and I was mourning the ‘loss’ of Stampede breakfasts – until this.
