‘Window Into Our Relationship’ moment:

EVERY morning Fiancé gets up before me and makes coffee. He even fills my mug with the appropriate amount of sugar and hands it to me as I get ready for work. This is a Monday to Sunday routine and not once in the time we have lived together has he forgotten, or slept in. Doesn’t matter if I have to leave 10 minutes or 10 hours before him, he gets his butt out of bed and gets the coffee ready.

I know what you’re all thinking. Women “Oh wow what a great man. She’s lucky to be marrying him”. Men “ya, that won’t last, I bet he gives it up the day after the wedding”

Well, I’m going to break some assumptions here. Yes ladies, he is a great man and I’m lucky to be marrying him. And, no gentleman this isn’t going to end anytime soon. It’s going to continue for a life time because Fiancé is a very intelligent man. He knows that there’s only one thing on this planet worse then an Atomic Bomb – me without caffeine first thing in the morning. Within 20 min of my feet hitting the floor I MUST have caffeine and food. These are non-negotiable items. Caffeine and food are the difference between a life of happiness and a life of pain and suffering. I make no apologies and I don’t hide it – this is who I am.

Love me for it. There are no other choices!

Okay, so where am I going with this? I’m going to Starbucks. Every coffee lover, like myself, has a routine. Morning coffee and muffin or bagel or donuts – and it always comes from the same place on your way to work. Having Celiac Disease can make it almost impossible to enjoy this type of morning ritual. No longer does my triple grande latte come with a blueberry and white chocolate scone. Heart wrenching I know! This is traumatic for me and for Fiancé. It has meant changing the morning routine. Change in the morning = bad.

But alas, we are being acknowledged. Starbucks is thinking about adding GF items to their stores. AND they want to know what we have to say about it. They want our suggestions and our opinions. They want to give us a product we will actually enjoy. Please go to the website and give them feedback. The more they know, the better equipped they will be to handle GF products.

And, if not for you, please go to the site in honor of Fiancé. Let’s get this guy a morning off. Because heaven knows I will always be dependent on caffeine and food. Let’s push for someone else to the work!

SPECIAL THANKS: Special thanks to Celiac Husband and Gluten Free Living for turning my attention to the topic.

I think this is phenomenal news for all you Glutties out there. (Besides the fact that it will make trips to Seattle easier!)

Starbucks is a major trend setter in the Corporate World. Having Gluten Free options at Starbucks would be like a grand coming out party for Celiac’s. (Akin to having a two hour feature on Oprah)

When Starbucks speaks others follow. Companies take note and try to catch-up. Just look at the industry’s reaction to Starbucks cards. They were once a novelty at Starbucks, but now they’re available from McDonald’s to Subway to A&W to Tim Hortons.

This acceptance could really open the doors to a more accepting Celiac World.

My congrats goes out to all you glutties.
