Yummy Tamari Soy Sauce!

So, what is the difference between a regular soy sauce and a yummy soy sauce? Salt. I don’t know if you’ve ever felt this way – but some soy sauces are simply too salty for my taste. I’m not a big salt fan, I find it drys out my mouth and takes over the other tastes in my foods – it’s just not for me. Because of this, finding the perfect GF soy sauce has been challenging. In my quest, I think I have found some good ones, but now I think I have found the best one.

Amano Tamari Soy Sauce.

5-002

A good friend of mine gave me this little bottle of Amano Tamari Soy Sauce to try; and I loved it instantly. It adds the best little kick to rice and sauces, and it doesn’t take over take your meal with a strong salt flavour. Brilliant!

Cautionary note: Although this soy sauce is gluten free, it is manufactured in a facility that contains wheat, nuts and shellfish. Personally I haven’t had an issue with this, but I do want to caution you to it. We all have different comfort zones and its best that you are informed enough to make your own decisions.

I buy it at Planet Organic, the varsity location.
Im a creature of convenience and this place is close to where I live so I only shop there, safeway and superstore when i get a chance.

Thanks Karen. I don’t have a Planet Organic anywhere close but I would make the drive – there isn’t anything near us so I’m used to the 3 stops!

I like the planet organic, its clean and friendly. But…pricey, really pricey! I had to stop going there a lot as it was just costing me way to much money and i tended to see snack items and buy them on a whim…not good for the pocket book.
How are you doing on the lactose front. Not sure if you have found a good subsitute for butter/margerine yet but i really like the Earth Balance buttery spread. You can get it at Superstore or planet organic. SS is much cheaper. I cook with it and everything and it works/taste well.

The lactose free thing is going OKAY. I thought that eating out was already inconvenient with being GF, but having to go lactose free as well has just made it impossible! Thanks for the recommendation on the Earth Balance, I haven’t been able to find a good substitute. I totally know what you mean about price – this is NOT the cheapest way to live. I was actually joking that I am going to try and write my gas off as a medical expense because I have to drive so many different places to get the best GF stuff at a good price!
